Title
Laser Anti-Intrusion Tracking System
Goal
This project explores whether a cheap, self-built system (Raspberry Pi, hobby servos, basic laser module) can achieve reliable real-time detection and tracking of a small, erratically-moving target.
Description
This project builds a low-cost "anti-intrusion" turret that detects a moving object using a camera, then automatically points a laser at it using two motorised servos (pan and tilt). As a concrete, demonstrable target, the system will track and point at a flying paper aeroplane — small, fast-moving, and a good stand-in for testing detection and tracking under motion. The core contribution is fine-tuning an existing computer vision model to detect the paper aeroplane, and building the control system that turns that detection into accurate, real-time servo movement.
