Title
-
Real-Time Analysis and Visualization of Bitcoin Network Metrics
-
Goal
-
To design and implement a real-time Bitcoin network analytics and monitoring platform that collects, analyzes, and visualizes blockchain and node-level metrics to provide insights into network performance, connectivity, transaction activity, and overall network health.
-
Description
- The Bitcoin network operates as a decentralized peer-to-peer system in which nodes continuously exchange transactions, blocks, and network messages. Monitoring and analyzing these activities can provide valuable insights into network behaviour, performance trends, transaction dynamics, and node health.
This project aims to develop a real-time Bitcoin network analytics and monitoring platform capable of collecting data from one or more Bitcoin nodes and blockchain data sources. The system will gather metrics related to network connectivity, transaction propagation, mempool activity, block generation, and node performance. Beyond visualization, the platform will incorporate analytics capabilities to identify patterns, track historical trends, detect anomalies, and generate meaningful summaries of network activity.
The backend will aggregate and store time-series data from available network and blockchain sources, while the frontend will present interactive visualizations and analytical reports. The resulting platform will serve as both an educational and diagnostic tool for understanding Bitcoin's decentralized architecture, network behaviour, and operational characteristics.
Possible metrics include:
Peer connectivity and network topology indicators
Block arrival and block interval statistics
Mempool size and transaction throughput
Transaction fee trends
Network latency and synchronization status
Node uptime and resource utilization
Historical performance trends
Anomaly detection and event identification
