Title
-
Design and Implementation of an IoT-Based Indoor Localization System for Campus Asset Tracking
-
Goal
-
To develop an indoor localization system using a distributed network of gateways to track high-value campus inventory at a room-level accuracy where standard GPS signals fail.
-
Description
- The system utilizes programmable BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) beacons attached to assets that continuously broadcast unique identifiers, which are intercepted by pre-existing Raspberry Pi boards acting as local gateways. A central Python server processes the incoming Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) values from multiple rooms, applies a data-smoothing filter to mitigate signal noise, and dynamically highlights the asset's active location on a real-time MQTT-driven web dashboard map.
